There are innumerable species that live on our planet in the animal world. Every species, from the mighty lions to the smallest ants, has a specific function in preserving the natural order. In this post, we shall look at a list of creatures that begin with the letter V.

1. Vulture

The vulture is a big predatory bird that mostly eats dead animals. It is recognized for its scavenging habits due to its pointed beak and hairless skull. Because they clean up corpses and stop illnesses from spreading, vultures are essential to the ecology.

2. Vampire Bat

A little creature with a reputation for sucking blood is the vampire bat. These bats, which are native to South and Central America, consume other species’ blood. Vampire bats, contrary to common perception, mostly target cattle rather than people.

3. Vicuña

Native to the high Andes, the vicuña is a wild cousin of the llama. The vicuña, which is prized for its silky and priceless wool, is considered an endangered species and is thus protected. These herbivores have adapted successfully to the hardy alpine settings.

4. Vervet Monkey

To save this species from becoming extinct, conservation measures are being taken.

7. Velvet worm

Tropical rainforests are home to tiny invertebrates called onychophorans, or velvet worms. The velvet worm, despite its name, is a close cousin of an arthropod rather than a worm. They have an unusual method of catching prey: they discharge gooey slime.

8. Viperfish

The viperfish is a species of deep-sea fish that is characterized by its fierce look and sharp, needle-like teeth. These fish, which may be found in the ocean’s depths, have an organ that glows in the dark to help them attract food. Because they are expert hunters, viperfish are able to consume bigger prey than they are.

9. Velvet Ant

The velvet ant, often called the cow killer ant, is a wasp species. The vivid hues and excruciating sting of these wingless insects are well known. Velvet ants belong to the Mutillidae family and are not really ants, despite their name.

10. Vulture Beetle

One kind of carrion beetle that feeds on decomposing flesh is the vulture beetle. They assist in the breakdown of deceased animals, which is a crucial part of the decomposition process. Vulture beetles inhabit a variety of settings and are drawn to the stench of decaying meat.
