Gorillas
Known as the biggest primates on Earth, gorillas are amazing animals found in the deep woods of Central Africa. With around 98% of our DNA in common, these amazing creatures are closely related to humans and are members of the Hominidae family. Male gorillas, who can weigh up to 400 pounds and reach an astonishing height of 6 feet, are known for their muscular builds. Thick, coarse hair covers their body, helping to shield them from the weather.
Given their high level of intelligence, gorillas have intricate social systems within their communities. They are a coherent family unit, headed by a dominant male silverback who provides leadership and protection. Being herbivores, these gentle giants mostly eat fruits, leaves, stems, and sometimes insects. Gorillas are renowned for their kind disposition and are seldom violent until provoked, despite their enormous size. By using a range of vocalisations, gestures, and facial expressions, they may express their feelings and intentions to other group members.
