senses
Animals possess a wide variety and an intriguing range of senses. Every animal has developed special senses that enable them to travel through and engage with their surroundings in amazing ways. Animals have evolved their senses to meet their particular demands. Examples of this include the strong vision of predatory birds, which allows them to notice prey from long distances, and dogs’ sensitive sense of smell, which enables them to detect even the faintest of odours.
Animals have senses beyond sight and smell that are very remarkable. Bats possess an amazing talent called echolocation, which allows them to identify prey in total darkness by emitting high-frequency noises and then listening for the echoes. Whales and dolphins also utilise echolocation in the deep ocean to locate food, communicate, and navigate.
