Wombats

Amazing animals that live across Australia are wombats. These marsupials are renowned for their distinct behaviours and physical attributes. Wombats are suited for digging burrows because of their stocky build, short legs, and powerful claws. Burrows serve as both their shelter and a means of defence against intruders. In their native environment, their coarse fur, which ranges in colour from sandy brown to grey, helps them blend in.

As herbivores, wombats mostly consume bark, roots, and grasses. They can chew through dense foliage because of their powerful jaws and pointed incisors. These creatures are nocturnal; they spend the day sleeping in their burrows and are most active at night. Because woombats are solitary animals, each one marks its territory with a scent gland.
